Here's Which Super Bowl Advertisers Won Big With TV Audiences

The Seahawks won big, but determining which Super Bowl advertisers scored on Sunday is much more nuanced.

Last week we published an article that looked at some of the big commercials that were already percolating through the Web before their big Super Bowl debut.

It seems that social media and the ability to track how well ads do by how many likes, shares, and favorites they collect has intensified the already pretty intense advertising climate that surrounds the big game.

Well, the game is over, and while statisticians don't have much to pour over when it comes to the game (#blowout); they've already started aggregating social media numbers, enough for us to declare a de-facto winner among the Super Bowl advertisers.

Congratulations, Anheuser-Busch Inbev (BUD). Because when it comes to Super Bowl advertising, there's really no touching you. By looking at the number of times a featured hashtag from a commercial was mentioned on the web - Adweek built a list of the most successful ads from Sunday night.

And Budweiser blew away the competition, gaining about 80,000 mentions for their various ads. The next highest was Honda (HMC)'s #Hugfest ad, which brought in a little more than 18,000.

However it's also important to note that the advertising climate isn't only limited to television ads anymore. An arguable winner for the weekend was J.C Penney (JCP), whose hilarious #TweetingWithMittens stunt quickly went viral. They generated a lot of press for their campaign without footing the bill for a TV spot - and their Tweet was shared more than 40,000 times.
